Follow the whole program of treatment for hypertension which can include diet, exercise, medication and weight control very carefully.
Do not stop taking Tenormin (Atenolol) even if you feel well. Hypertension may have no signs and it may be necessary to use blood pressure medication for all your life.
How should Tenormin (Atenolol) be used?
Follow the prescriptions of your doctor and the instructions which come with the medication carefully. Do not change your dose and do not use Tenormin (Atenolol) for a longer period than prescribed.
Tenormin (Atenolol) should be used with a full glass of liquid at the same time every 24 hours.
You should not miss your doses or stop using Tenormin (Atenolol) without your doctor’s recommendation. If you stop suddenly, your condition may worsen.
Your doctor may need to check your blood pressure regularly. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.

What side effects can Tenormin (Atenolol) cause?
You should stop taking Tenormin (Atenolol) and seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following symptoms of allergy: trouble breathing; hives; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor promptly if you develop any of the following serious conditions:- depression;
- nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
- cold feeling in your hands and feet;
- swelling of your ankles or feet;
- feeling light-headed, fainting;
- feeling short of breath, even with mild exertion;
- slow or irregular heartbeats.
- tired feeling;
- decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm;
- anxiety, nervousness; or
- sleep problems (insomnia).
Tenormin (Atenolol) may also cause other side effects. Inform youк doctor if you have any painful or uncommon side effects.
