The medication can also be used for reduction of the risks of invasive breast cancer after surgery and radiation therapy for ductal carcinoma in situ. The medication can also be prescribed for reduction of the risk of breast cancer in women with high odds of getting sick with breast cancer. Although it does not eliminate all the risks, the studies that lasted for 5 years and included more than 1500 women who are in danger of this disease demonstrated the reduction of cases by 44 %.
