What is Clomid?
Clomid is used for ovarian stimulation. It helps to release the hormons needed for ovulation. In its common usage, this medicine is indicated for treatment of infertility in women.
Clomid is prescribed for ovarian stimulation (release of an egg) if a follicle can be generated by a woman’s ovaries but hormonal stimulation is not enough.
Clomid may also be prescribed for other uses.
What is important to know about Clomid?
Be careful if you are driving, operating machinery or doing anything that requires you to be alert. Clomid may provoke vision problems during or soon after treatment. Call your doctor at once if you have any vision problems and be careful while doing anything that requires you to be alert, especially if the lighting is not constant.
Clomid may increase the chance of multiple ovulations which may increase risks for mother and for unborn babies.
How should Clomid be used?
Follow the prescriptions of your doctor. If you need explanations, ask your pharmacist, doctor or nurse for them.
Take your dose of Clomid with a full glass of liquid.
In common usage, Clomid is taken in 5 day courses. Follow the prescriptions of your healthcare provider.
Keep Clomid room temperature, protected from direct light, heat and moisture.
What side effects can Clomid cause?
Stop using Clomid and get emergency medicine if you have any signs of an allergic reaction (hard breathing; hives; swelling of your face, lips, tongue; closing of your throat).
Using Clomid has been reported to provoke ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). OHSS can cause death. Call your doctor at once if you experience any of the following conditions: abdominal pain and swelling, nausea or vomiting, weight gain, swelling of the hands or legs, shortness of breath.Clomid may also cause other side effects. Tell your doctor if you develop:
- breast tenderness or discomfort;
- abnormal uterine bleeding;
- ovarian enlargement presenting as abdominal or pelvic pain, tenderness, pressure, or swelling;
- blurred vision or other visual disturbances;
- nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; or
Clomid may increase the chance of multiple ovulations which may add risks for mother and for unborn babies.
Clomid may also cause other side effects. Call your doctor for information about any uncommon or painful side effects you experience.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Talk with your doctor about what to do if you miss a dose of Clomid. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Overdose symptoms may include blurred vision, nausea, visual spots or flashes, flushing, abdominal pain and vomiting, .
What other drugs will affect Clomid?
There are no known interactions between Clomid and other medicines.
