Orlistat (Xenical) works locally in small intestine and stomach. In stomach two compounds are found in digestive juices. Gastric lipases and pancreatic lipases are these compounds. Usually these compounds break down the fats we consume from our diet. The fat from our diet is made from molecules which are very large to absorb from gut into bloodstream. In process of digestion these large molecules need to break down in small molecules to get absorb in the bloodstream. This function is carried out by gastric lipases and pancreatic lipases. Orlistat prevents these compounds work. It prevents the fat from breaking down and absorbing by the body. Xenical capsules should not be taken by the people who are allergic for Orlistat, or who are unable in absorbing nutrients and food properly, or who have any gallbladder problem. It is contraindicated in breastfeeding and pregnancy. After starting the course of Xenical (Orlistat) capsules if you suffer from any signs of allergic reactions like swelling of your tongue, throat, face or lips, hives or difficulty in taking breath then immediately contact with your doctors.
